Before GiaSpace became the trusted IT partner for dozens of Florida businesses, it was just one guy, a soldering iron, and a deep curiosity about how things work.
Robert Giannini didn’t grow up in a house full of computers. What he had were old VCRs, car stereos, TVs, and any electronic toy he could get his hands on. If it had wires, Rob wanted to open it up, figure it out, and sometimes accidentally break it in the process.
“I learned a lot by burning things out. Trial and error were my first teachers.”
But that hunger to tinker and learn would eventually lead to something bigger.
Rob’s passion took him to vocational school in high school, where he dove deeper into electronics. After graduating, he landed a job at Hauppauge Computer Works on Long Island, learning how to build computers and test TV boards during the Windows 3.11 days.
That spark of experience led to his first dream: Silicon Valley. But a pit stop to say goodbye to his dad in South Florida changed everything.
His old GMC Vandura didn’t survive the drive, but his ambition did.
What started as a quick detour turned into a job at a Gateway call center, followed by a role at Inacom as a field engineer. It was there that Rob first touched enterprise-level systems, working through the Y2K crunch and solving complex IT problems onsite, often with only a phone and a wrench (metaphorically speaking).
“Inacom was the turning point. I got to work with serious tech and see how IT could transform a business.”
When Inacom folded, Rob moved on to Compaq (and later HP), earning perks like a company car and overtime, until the post-merger layoffs started rolling in.
That’s when Rob made a bold decision: It was time to build something of his own.
In 2017, WannaCry ransomware spread like wildfire across unpatched Windows 7 machines, crippling hospitals, banks, and businesses across 150+ countries.
And that was with far fewer outdated devices.
This time?
The result will be a massive, predictable wave of vulnerabilities ripe for exploitation.
Unlike previous transitions, this one affects:
If you don’t upgrade, you won’t just risk your own network—you’ll risk your clients, your partners, and your reputation.
On November 5, 2005, GiaSpace was born.
With a handful of loyal clients, no office, and very little remote tech available at the time, Rob drove to every job himself. Over time, one referral led to another. More clients came. GiaSpace grew slowly and deliberately.
And Rob hand-picked every technician who joined.
“I wanted a team that cared as much as I did. People who didn’t just fix computers, but actually made the client feel taken care of.”
That’s still the heart of GiaSpace today.
Now, nearly two decades later, GiaSpace serves businesses across Florida with fast, friendly, first-time fix IT support. But Rob never lost that original spark, the drive to solve problems, connect with people, and build technology that makes work easier, not harder.
What makes GiaSpace different isn’t just the expertise, it’s the attitude.
GiaSpace has evolved from an on-the-road technician operation to a full-fledged MSP with strategic planning, industry-specific IT support, and a clear mission: to help Florida businesses grow without tech headaches.
“We’ve been through boom cycles, recessions, and pandemics, and we’ve adapted every time. Because that’s what real partners do.”
If your business is stuck reacting to IT problems or working with a provider who doesn’t treat your goals like their own, it might be time to upgrade.
Let’s talk.
We’ll show you what it looks like to work with an IT partner that’s fast, friendly, and built to grow with you.
